Synchronized skating, or "synchro" is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight to sixteen skaters, both male and female, performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow.

Synchronized skating combines athleticism and artistry while encouraging fun and participation. The objective is to have all team members perform precisely in unison.

There are a number of Synchronized Skating categories which accommodate skaters at any age and skill level.  It is important for all synchronized skaters to improve their skating skills and therefore they are typically also enrolled in the Skate Canada Starskate stream.
