About Us
The Goulbourn Skating Club is the result of an amalgamation of the Richmond Skating Club and the Stittsville Skating club which originally operated out of the Richmond Arena and Stittsville Arena, respectively. When the Goulbourn Recreation Complex was built in Stittsville on Shea Road, both clubs initially offered skating programs separately at this new facility. However, in an effort to better serve its current members, and the needs of an ever-growing Ottawa West community, the two long-standing clubs decided to unite and present the entire Goulbourn region with one unified skating club. As a result, and with the hard work of the Executive Members of both Richmond and Stittsville skating clubs, the foundation was established for what officially became The Goulbourn Skating Club in the spring of 2004. Now, as a member of Skate Canada in the Eastern Ontario Section, the Goulbourn Skating Club offers excellent programming out of the Goulbourn Recreation Complex, the Johnny Leroux Arena and the Richmond Memorial Community Center. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of skating programs including CanSkate, CanPower, Adult Skate, Primary, StarSkate, Synchronized Skating and Special Olympics.
The structure and operation of the Goulbourn Skating Club is managed primarily by of a group of remarkably dedicated volunteers from both our skating community and the Goulbourn community itself. With the exception of the professional skating coaches and our webmaster, the Goulbourn Skating Club has absolutely no paid employees. It is through the presence and hard work of our volunteer community that we manage, each year, to successfully provide our membership with the very best programming along with a few club specific events such as our bi-annual Ice Show and our annual November Funday. Without these dedicated men, women and youth, the Goulbourn Skating Club would not survive and for their presence we are very grateful. If you would like to volunteer with the Goulbourn Skating Club please contact us!
