Synchro
Synchronized skating, or "synchro" is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight to sixteen skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform precisely in unison, executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow.
Synchronized skating combines athleticism and artistry while encouraging fun and participation. Different categories accommodate skaters at any age and skill level. In order for synchronized skaters to improve their skating skills they are typically also enrolled in the Skate Canada STARSkate stream.
Starlight Synchronized Skating Teams are co-hosted by Goulbourn Skating Club and March Kanata Skating Club, with skaters from all over the Greater Ottawa area joining the teams. For more information, including where and when to register, please email our Synchro Director.
