STARSkate
The STARSkate program offers opportunities for skaters to develop fundamental figure skating skills. Skaters progress through the levels by passing STARSkate Assessments and have the opportunity to showcase their skills at various provincially sanctioned Competitions.
In order to register in this program skaters must hire a STARSkate Coach. STARSkate Levels

STARSkate Assessments
STAR 1-5 and STAR 6-Gold Skills Assessments are conducted by a qualified Skate Canada coach or evaluator on your skater's regular session.
For STAR 6 & up skaters to be assessed in Freeskate (Program & Elements), Dance, and Artistic programs, there are special days set aside for an external evaluator to judge. Since they must be evaluated on clear ice, Assessment Days may also include STAR 5 Dance (5A Willow Waltz only), STAR 5 Artistic, and STAR 5 Freeskate Programs. Assessment Days are typically hosted by the club 3-4 times per year. There may also be opportunities for skaters to attend assessments at other local clubs.

STARSkate Competitions
There are three main competition series available in Ontario, both locally and at various host clubs across the province:
Competition registration and payment is done through Skate Ontario, where you will also find event series information, categories, criteria, deadlines, schedules and results. Actual skate times are confirmed approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the competition. Skaters should arrive one hour prior to their skate time to ensure that they have checked-in and have enough time to warm up.
Coaches will charge a fee for the time spent with the skater at the competition. For out of town competitions, generally, the coaches’ travel expenses will be shared amongst their competing skaters. It is recommended you discuss specifics with your coach prior to entering the competition.
