Off Ice Training

Picture
Figure skating requires flexibility, muscle strength, balance and coordination, mobility and range of motion of joints which are not generally trained on the ice. Off Ice Training is vital to the development of on ice skills as it helps skaters to develop stronger, higher jumps and jump landings, more powerful spins and better body position awareness. Proper off ice training and conditioning also reduces the risk of injury.

This program is designed for and open to all levels of STARSkate and to both in-club and out-of-club skaters during the regular season. During the off-season, some off ice sessions may be geared to specific levels only.

Training includes:
  • Off ice jump and spin techniques
  • Exercises to improve strength and conditioning, balance and flexibility
